Dear NullCave operators (yes, you — Admins, Mods);

Now that “raz0r” clearly has private matters to deal with, it’s a fact (or so it seems) that he was one of the people who nulled the big scripts like IPB, XenForo, etc.

I’m asking because, like so many others, I have used - and still use - these nulled versions for various purposes. Will someone take over the nulling of, for example, Invision Community (IPS Forum) v4.x and v5.x? Or are the latest versions going to remain final?

Personally, I’m not very skilled in this whole nulling scene, I have a basic understanding of the procedure, but I chose another digital platform to express my creative abilities rather than “coding” in the traditional sense, so I’m probably not much use here. But I do see the value in it now, without a doubt 😓

Does anyone think raz0r’s genuine knack, skills, and competence will find someone new to step into his shoes?

With the utmost respect to the NullCave crew 🤍

Well, the thing is that there are two things to address here; #1 sourcing the updated code (plugins, themes, scripts, etc.) and then, #2 nulling them.

I can tell you, I used to null things for another forum, and the problem is the huge effort and time that it takes.

Having a life, a physical job, and a family to take care of, especially when there are ill members, filling the shoes of raz0r is not an easy job at all.

I was a monthly donor, but for the monthly revenue that the forum was generating, as disclosed in his message about selling the forum, it seems like people was not donating enough. I am sure that the amount of money generated has nothing to do with his departure, but if there are not enough people donating, it does not help when it comes to keeping up.

He provided updates even for free to everyone, and still, the updates here were the latest ones, including "0day". Other forums, including paid membership ones, mostly have old versions of the products.

So I don't foresee another "raz0r" in the near future.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this, it puts things in perspective. As I mentioned earlier, I only have a very basic understanding of the whole nulling procedure myself. I chose another digital platform to express my creative abilities rather than traditional “coding,” so I completely understand the “effort versus reward” dynamic you’re describing. Having been in similar situations myself in other fields, I know how much time and energy goes in without it ever fully being reflected back.

That’s actually why I was thinking it might be constructive to create a kind of “Nulling 101” resource, written or co-written by people who are experienced in the craft. Something that outlines methods, tools, and real-world examples from those who have done it, so that at least some of the hard-won knowledge doesn’t disappear when one person steps back. Even a basic primer could help new people understand what’s involved and what it takes.

I really appreciate all the insight you’ve shared here, and the work that the members of NullCave (including raz0r and others) have already put into this. It’s clear how much time and care goes into it.
