The demo content XML file that comes with the theme is outdated and all the media file URLs within the document point to the wrong/old URLs. -.-
What happens is it takes SOOOOO MUCH LONGER and causes the importer to timeout by looking for the media at the wrong URLs. For perspective, there's 813 media files within the demo content.
So I went through the XML file within the theme and updated all the URLs as best I could to point to the correct URLs of their new demo site.

THE FIX​

  1. Download my attached ZIP and extract the XML file
  2. Install Wordpress
  3. Install & Activate the Theme
  4. Install & Activate all the required plugins
  5. Go into your wordpress directory to /wp-content/themes/kivicare/inc/Import/Demo
  6. Delete the file: kivicare-content.xml
  7. Replace with my version
  8. Run Theme Setup
  9. Make sure your PHP settings are the recommended figures
  10. When you run the importer, you will see it get higher in percentage then drop back but it will keep dropping back to a higher number and eventually complete.
    Eg. It'll get to 4% then drop to 0%, then it'll get to 6% but drop back to 2%
  11. Let it keep going until it eventually completes. It took one of my servers about an hour
The much quicker option is to use localwp and follow all the same steps on a local install as it will be much faster. Took my local site about 15 minutes. Then use a plugin like Duplicator Pro to make a copy of your site and install it on your live domain.

Ps. To change the php settings for localwp
Go to: C:\Users\"Youruser"\Local Sites\"Yoursite"\conf\php\php.ini.hbs
Once you make your changes, make sure you go back into the localwp software then click Stop Site and then Start Site to update the settings
