⚠️ WARNING — This file contains a backdoor/webshell!

I scanned this ZIP with a malware scanner and it contains hidden malicious code in this file:
elementor-pro/modules/carousel/assets.php
What it does:
  • Full webshell (PHP file manager) hidden behind 12+ layers of obfuscation (eval, base64, gzinflate, str_rot13…)
  • Allows the attacker to browse, modify, delete and upload files on your server
  • Enables remote OS command execution
  • Accessible via a hidden cookie (mycookie=ok) with hardcoded credentials
  • Protected by a deceptive comment: "don't delete or change this file, that will broke your website" — that's a lie, this file isn't even used by the plugin!
What you should do:
  • ❌ Don't install it if you haven't yet
  • 🗑️ Delete it immediately if you already installed it
  • 🔑 Change all your passwords (WordPress, FTP, database)
  • 🔍 Check your access logs for any signs the backdoor was accessed

A word to everyone sharing files here: please be honest and responsible when uploading. Sharing infected files puts the entire community at risk — people trust what they download here. If you wouldn't install it on your own server, don't share it with others. Good faith matters.

Hello, I found that assets.php on my files too, also inside my production website, I deleted. Thank you for your help, when I shared my intention was good.

In any case, one thing about you surprised me—and not in a good way:

I noticed that the file was indeed obfuscated, and I couldn't decode it using any available software, so the question arises: Did you know the process? Also, when I ran it on my localhost, it just showed a blank screen. Where is that File Manager you mentioned? Could you explain that a bit better?

So far, the only thing I’ve understood and actually managed to verify regarding your claims is that there is an encoded file—but as for what it actually does...?! I don't know; did you really manage to decode it?

Did you create and distribute the file yourself?

Anyway, thank you again.

I wouldn't trust RodMatt, who added the last two versions of the plugin. It's unclear where they got them or what they put in them.
The forum has the latest secure version. Remove the new plugin from WordPress and install 4.1.1. Everything should work fine.

My friend, I compared your Elementor Pro with my purchased copy, and yours its nulled with a fake expiry for 2073 , but also contains a hidden image pointing to mykey.cu.ma. I checked that image endpoint, and it’s still active. It could be used to track requests from browsers (such as IP Address) opening the WordPress plugins page.

This doesn’t prove there’s a backdoor, but it’s definitely a bad addition. The full Link as I can see , is this: https://mykey.cu.ma/track/stream.php?file=elementor.png in line 207 in elementor-pro.php
