You can use WinMerge to check. It is easy, it is FREE. But it does not worth because PHP 7.4 is no more and it will not get any security update.

and also in

copy/paste from prev patch, and then copy the txt database to
setup\install\includes

I use Diff Folders an extension in VS to check the diffs

It doesn't work in that way. Your concept is wrong. It is not compatible with PHP8.1. If a script is not compatible with a certain version of PHP, then after installation if you upgrade the PHP version, the script will give you errors and sometimes FATAL ERROR. You will never make it work without re-coding the script.
